FINE ART

I’m often asked how long a piece takes to complete. While I often know the hours infvolved in a piece. I have another answer; years. Over 37 of them. Like most kids I filled doodled, colored, and painted and never stopped.

Having grown up in rural Ohio, my exposure to art was what I saw on tv and film, and read in newspaper comic strips. PBS programming was a huge influence. Especially the tv programs of Bob Ross and Mark Kistler.

In high school I continued to develop my drawing skills using pencil, pastels, charcoal, and india ink. This continued while earning my BFA in Visual Communcation and Design. While at Indiana/Purdue University Fort Wayne I took courses in illustration, airbrush, pencil and charcoal drawing, oil painting, and watercolor painting.

Through hours of en plein air painting and perspective drawing I have developed a visual library to create work that is both familiar and fantastical.
